PROS:

  • they had great economic expansion
  • strong military power
  • the expansion of land changed not only the mediterranean, but also Rome itself
  • having a large empire also led to having a large population. since the population grew quickly, the production of goods (such as grains, olives and other crops) increased. this helped Rome expand and establish its trade ties with other mediterranean powers, which helped enhance Rome's economy

CONS

  • the empire had extreme poverty rates, because of the threats of being in a constant state of war. this meant that the government then imposed a lot of tax burdens on the citizens
  • because there was a large production of goods, it led to farming issues because of the over exhausted soil, caused by over-cultivation
  • there was a huge inequality between the rich and the poor, including economic crises
  • there was economic recession because of the excessive reliance on slave labour

hopefully this answered your question :) let me know if you need anything else
