To find the answer, we can begin by converting 9/16 to a denominator of 32. This can be done by multiplying everything by 2:

9 • 2 = 18
16 • 2 = 32

Our new fraction is 18/32. Now to subtract:

18/32 - 4/32 = 14/32

With our new fraction, we can divide the numerator and denominator by 2 to find that:

18/32 - 4/32 = 7/16

Hence, our final difference is option C.
