Explanation:

a = -b + 5

2b + a = 11

2b + (-b + 5) = 11

2b - b + 5 = 11

b + 5 = 11

b = 11 - 5

b = 6

2b + a = 11

2(6) + a = 11

12 + a = 11

a = 11 - 12

a = -1
