Tsunamis are giant waves that occur in oceans. They are caused by sudden displacement of water, usually due to earthquakes. Tsunamis can cause widespread destruction when they make landfall. They can be prevented by early warning systems that can alert people to evacuate to higher ground. The ecological impact of tsunamis is devastating. They can kill people, destroy homes, and pollute the environment. Tsunamis can also harm wildlife and disrupt the food chain.

One of the deadliest natural disasters in history was the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami which was caused by an earthquake that struck off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. The resulting tsunami killed over 230,000 people.

In conclusion, tsunamis can cause massive damage to coastal areas which grow to be over 100 feet tall and travel at speeds over 500 miles per hour.
