The given polynomial is:

x^2-2x-5

a) When x=0, the value of the polynomial is:

\begin{gathered} 0^2-2*0-5 \\ =-5 \end{gathered}

b) When x=-1, the value of the polynomial is:

\begin{gathered} (-1)^2-2(-1)-5 \\ =1+2-5 \\ =-2 \end{gathered}
