Answer:

-2

Explanation:

4x + 8y = -40

since X= -6

then 4(-6) + 8y = -40

-24 + 8y = -40

8y = -40 +24

since the -24 crossed the equal to sign it becomes +24

8y = -16

8y/8 = -16/8

y = -2

Answer:

if x is -6,

4(-6) + 8y = -40

-24 + 8y = -40

-24 +(-40) = 8y

-24 -40 =8y

-64 = 8y

-64 ÷ 8 =8y ÷ 8

-8 = y
