A thesis statement will have some form of argument that you were trying to prove. For example, if you were talking about hamlet, you could say as a thesis statement “Shakespeare presents hamlet as manic and out of control through his mannerism, language, and actions.”.
You were making a point by saying this is what Shakespeare is trying to do, and the examples are your “evidence quote, that you will use to prove what you’ve said.
Another example would be saying “In the book, the namesake, Jhumpa Lahiri, showcases, goggles, insecurity, and desire through A…B…C”. You are making the claim that the character is insecure, and this is why.
