Hercules took his brother to the fair. For every 9 lollipops they won, they received 2 pieces of gum. If Hercules counted 32 pieces of gum in their bag, how many lollipops did they have.

Because

9 lolipops + 2 pieces of gum eventually add up to 32 pieces of gum..

32 divided by 2 would give you 16

9 times 16 = 144

correct me if i am wrong))

Answer:

144 lollipops

Explanation:

You want the number of lollipops in the bag if there are 32 pieces of gum and 9 lollipops for each 2 pieces of gum.

Proportion

The number of lollipops is proportional to the pieces of gum, so we have ...

L/32 = 9/2 . . . . . . ratio of lollipops to pieces of gum

L = 32(9/2) = 16·9 = 144

They had 144 lollipops in their bag.
