itsThe quadrilateral is a parallelogram

A parallelogram has it's opposite sides to be parallel and equal in length

Hence:

\begin{gathered} 16\text{ + 2x = 10 + 8x} \\ \operatorname{Re}-\text{arranging} \\ 6\text{ = 6x} \\ x\text{ = 1} \end{gathered}

Then to obtain BC, we simply substitute:

\begin{gathered} BC\text{ = 16 + 2x } \\ =\text{ 16 + 2(1)} \\ =\text{ 18} \end{gathered}
