Part A:

Given:

The graph represents company's profit depending on the price of pens x in dollars

The x-intercepts are the points where the company's profit f(x) is equal to zero

Interpretation of the x-intercepts

From the graph, the x-intercepts are (0,0) and (6.0)

This means that at the start when the price of pens was zero, the company's profit was zero and when the price of pens rose to 6 dollars, the company's profit dropped to zero,

The maximum value of the graph is the highest point on the graph

Interpretation of the maximum value

From the graph, the maximum value is (3, 120).

This means that when the price of pens was 3 dollars, the company made a profit totalling 120 dollars and that was her highest.

The region where the graph of f(x) is increasing and decreasing is shown below:

Using interval notation:

\begin{gathered} increasing\text{ :}(-\infty,\text{ 3\rparen} \\ decreasing\text{ : \lparen3, }\infty) \end{gathered}

Interpretation of the interval where the function is increasing and decreasing

The company's profit keep increasing until the price of pen is 3 dollars. When the price of pens is above 3 dollars, the company's profit starts decreasing
