Answer:

x=8

y=5

Explanation:

3x-2y=8 (equation1)

3x+3y=33 (equation2)

you need to add/subtract both equations and both of the 3x will cancel out, equation2-equation1

eq2 - eq1

3x - 3x =0

3y - -2y =5y

33 - 8 =25

5y=25

y=5

substitute the y into one of the equations

3x+3(3)=33

3x+9=33 (-9 from both sides of the =)

3x=24 (÷3 on both sides of the =)

x=8

minus the two equations to get:
5y = 25
y = 5

Substitute 5 into one of the equations
3x - (2*5) = 8
3x = 18
x = 6
