You can defend an answer for both salt lakes and the Antarctic. However if you have to choose one I would go with the Antarctic.

We also know that oxygen comes from plants, and that there are plenty of plants in the desert. So that should not be the correct answer either.

Now for the two that I believe could be the correct answer, the Antarctic could make sense because of its high altitude and lack of plants that cause its low oxygen levels. However, you can also say for salt lakes that since there is additional sodium ions mixed in with the water molecules, there is less available space for oxygen atoms. Therefore, there is less oxygen.
