Does the cheetah have adaptations, but doesn’t use them for the intended purpose? (example, flightless birds)

Usually adaptions all have a purpose otherwise the animal would lose them through evolution as they are unnecessary.
I guess you could use their smaller features such as feet, head and canines compared to other large cats or their whiskers.
