Let n=any number and m=any number:

-n+-m=n-m

n+m=n+m

A negative number plus a negative number equals a negative number

A positive number plus a positive number sums to a positive number

Replace n and m with any two numbers.

For example, n=5, m=6

-(5)+-(6)=-5-6=-11

(5)+(6)=11
