4: if two softball is equal weight to 1 tennis and 2 golf balls, and three softball is equal to 3 tennis and 2 golf balls, we can take two softballs from one side, take 1 tennis and 2 golf balls from another side since we already know they are equal balance. Now we left one softball and 2 tennis on the scale.
