Which was a reform to the education system in the United States that began in the early 1800s? I would say standardized reading books. I don't think ibentegration of both black and white children would have taken place before the civil war from 1861`-1865 and I don't think that schools truly became so integrated until the 1960's as a response to the civil rights movement.
