first, write out the problem. 2x + 5 > 3x -3
next, solve.
2x + 5 > 3x -3
add 3 to the left side.
2x + 8 > 3x
subtract 2x from the right side.
8 > 1x

rememember you can do anything to an equation as long as you do it to boht sides except diviede by zero and when you mulitply by a negative with inequalities (<, <,>,>) remember to flip the sign

sum means add
twice a number means a number times 2 (represented by x)
greater than means >
3 times means multiply
minus is minus
so
sum of twice a number and 5 (2x+5) is greater than (>) 3 times the number (3x) minus 3 (-3)
we now have
2x+5>3x-3
subtract 2x from both sides
5>x-3
add 3 to both sides
8>x
x<8
therefor x is any number less than 8
x can be 7,6,5,4,3,2,1,0,-123189030, π
basically x<8
