Let B represent the length of one blue banner and Y represent the length of one yellow banner.
4B+5Y=49 meters so...
5Y=49-4B
Y=(49-4B)/5
2B+1Y=17 meters
2B+(49-4B)/5 =17
10B+49-4B=85
6B+49=85
6B=36
B=6 meters !!
