There are six halves in 3 because if you divide 3 by .5 you get

6 halfs in 3
because 1/2 + 1/2 = 1 and 1 + 1/2 + 1/2 = 2 and 2 + 1/2 + 1/2 = 3
making it 6 halfs or 3/1 divided by 1/2 which equals 6
