easily D
without sunlight you get no photosynthesis, so no plants
plankton is the bottom of the food chain in the ocean so without it the entire food chain collapses from the bottom up. so yeah its D by far

Answer:

D)Sunlight provides light energy that allows photosynthesis to occur in plankton and aquatic plants

Step-by-step explanation:

PLankton and aquatic plants are the base of the food pyramid in the ocean, most animals that then feed other animals eat acquatic plants, and other big animals like whales eat plankton, so the most important function that the sunlight carries out is the fact that sunlight provides light energy for acquatin plants to perform photosynthesis.
