The scale that the Egyptians used was the Five-tone scale.

The early Egyptians are thought to have used the five-tone scale. A five-tone scale is also known as pentatonic scale which consists on a five notes scale per octave. Pentatonic was developed by many ancient civilizations. It is still used across the world. There exist two types of pentatonic scales: those with semitones (hemitonic) and those without (anhemitonic).
