Plain folk propaganda indeed does project an image of a candidate as one of the common people - this type of propaganda often uses and depicts the politicians as common people who don't have an secret or complex dark agenda, while the reality might be different.

This is also a way how these type of politicians can gain important political points which they wouldn't gain otherwise.
