This is because 1 dollar is constent--- you will always have 1 dollar.

However 2.5 is the change, you have to times a number to get the answer.

EX:

(t) = 2.5t + 1

(4) = 2.5( 4) + 1 ----- plug in 4 for t

= 10 +1

= 11

The is the multiplyer or change is the 2.5t

and when you graph it it will almost always be the slope of the line.
