Given,

The maximum pressure that a human body can withstand, P=1.80×10⁵ Pa

The density of the seawater, ρ=1.03×10³ kg/m³

The acceleration due to gravity, g=9.8 m/s²

The pressure on a body under the water is given by,

P=p_a+\rho gh

Where pₐ is the atmospheric pressure at the sea level and h is the safe depth that a human can dive into.

The value of the pressure at sea level is pₐ=1 atm=1.01×10⁵ Pa

On rearranging the above equation,

h=(P-p_a)/(\rho g)

On substituting the known values,

\begin{gathered} h=(1.80*10^5-1.01*10^5)/(1.03*10^3*9.80) \\ =7.8\text{ m} \end{gathered}

Therefore the maximum safe depth an average human can dive is 7.8 m
