shouldn't it be
-2(7-y)+4=-4
-14+2y+4=-4
-10+2y=-4
2y=-14

it's wrong because you multiplied wrong in the first step.

here's what went wrong,

-2(7-y)+4=-4
-14+2y+4=-4 <--- multiplying two negatives equals a positive.
