Australians stopped using one-cent coins in 1992. Ever since, when they make a purchase, the price is rounded to the nearest five cents. How much money must be paid if the total bill is $2.78 in Australian dollars?

$2.80 bc everything should be rounded to 0 or 5.  78 is closer to 80 than 75

Answer:

$2.80

Explanation:

If the the total amount must be rounded to the nearest 5 cent, the money paid will either be rounded to the highest five cents or the lowest five cents. Anything greater than $0.05 will be rounded to $0.1 and anything less than $0.05 will be rounded to $0.00. The bill is $2.78. Therefore $0.08 is greater than $0.05 and the final bill is $2.80.
