what's the result of adding these two polynomials: (2x+y+1) + (2x⁶-y+1)? I'm doing a test and the correct answer says is 4x⁶-2y+1 but I'm not very sure it is the correct one. Can someone help me? :3

Answer

\begin{equation*} 2x^6+2x+2 \end{equation*}

Explanation

Given the polynomials:

\begin{gathered} 2x+y+1 \\ \text{ and} \\ 2x^6-y+1 \end{gathered}

To add them we need to add the similar terms (terms with the same variable and degree), as follows:

\begin{gathered} (2x+y+1)+(2x^6-y+1)= \\ =2x^6+2x+(y-y)+(1+1)= \\ =2x^6+2x+2 \end{gathered}
