Why is the term free market often a misnomer

"Free market", if understood literately, would be a market without any intervention from the government, where all the goods produced and their prices are decided by supply and demand.

However, in practice a fully free market doesn't exist - the governments usually control at least some parts of the marker, for example by prohibiting dangerous objects.
