Answer

Find out the how many students in your high school would you expect to pack their lunch.

To prove

Let us assume that the number of student pack their lunch be x.

Formula

Percentage = (Part\ value*100)/(Total\ value)

As given

A news report says that 28% of high school students pack their lunch.

Your high school has 600 students.

Percentage = 28 %

Total value = 600

Part value = x

Put in the formula

28 = (x*100)/(600)

x= (28*600)/(100)

x = 168

Therefore 168 students pack their lunch .

first you have 600., now remember where that decimal point is and move it one space to the right where you get 60.0, or 60. So 60 equals 10% of 600, with that you divide 60 by 10 where you get 6.0 and that is 2% of 600, with this info you multiply 6 by 8 and get 48, then you add 120 (because of the 20% which is 60×2) and you get your answer 168 students in your high school pack there lunch.
