The author Dante writes from a future point of view. He gives clues to what will happen to his character self. What happens to Dante the Character is prophecy while to Dante the Author it is history. You can say that the author version is wiser and more mature than the character version.

The real Dante holds highly unfavorable views of his political enemies.

Step-by-step explanation:

Dante Alighieri was a Florentine writer and scholar. He was born in Florence. He encouraged the White Guelf party in Florentine politics and was doomed to permanent exile following the Black Guelf success of 1301.
