8:00 a.m all the way until 2:00 p.m.

8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m is 4 hours.
12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m is 2 hours

8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. is 6 hours.

6 hours out of a 24 hour day.

(6)/(24) =(x)/(100)\\\\(1)/(4) =(x)/(100)\\\\\sf{Cross~multiplying}\\\\100 = 4x\\\\\sf{Divide~4~on~both~sides

\boxed{\bf{x =25}}

The school holds classes for 25% of the 24-hour day.

8:00 a.m - 2:00 p.m. is 6 hours.

6/24 * 100 %= 1/4 * 100% = 25%

A school hold classes for 25% of the day.
