Many things do motivate human behavior. Greed, lust, thrist for power, envy, and revenge are the usual ones. What should morovate is love, patriotism, and honor

Human behavior is motivated by primary and secondary reinforcers. These are stimuli from the environment which possess a certain pull and enable people doing things which increases their chance of obtaining these reinforcers. Food is an example of this.
