Hi
Cost = 53,70 - 9,60 = $ 44,10
K = Keith
M = Michelle
K + M = 44,10
K = M
K+K = 44,10
2K = 44,10
K = (44,10)/2
K = 22,05
K = M
M = 22,05
Answer:
$ 22,05 each friend pay not including the tip

Given:
number of friends = 2 (Keith and Michelle)
total cost of meal plus tip = $53.70
total tip given = $9.60
Find: How much each friend paid for the meal excluding the tip.
Total amount paid : 53.70
less: total tip paid
- 9.60
total cost of the meal: 44.10
divide: between 2 friends
÷ 2
cost per friend
22.05
Keith and Michelle will each contribute $22.05 for the meal.
They will also contribute $4.80 each for the tip.
Each friend will contribute a total of $26.85 for the meal and tip.
