0. To complete the square, it is easier to move the constants to the other side:


x^2-(3)/(4)x+(1)/(8)-(1)/(8)=-(1)/(8)
x^2-(3)/(4)x=-(1)/(8)

2. Getting the square of both sides:


x^2-(3)/(4)x+(((3)/(4))/(2))^2^{}=-(1)/(8)+(((3)/(4))/(2))^2
