Labor is the term given to the effort made by the mother's body to move the baby from the uterus and through the birth canal during the delivery period. The start of the labor process is characterized by mild to severe contractions that may last within 30 to 60 seconds in a 5 to 20-minute interval of re-occuring. Contractions during the last part of the labor is of greater intensity and more painful compared to previous contractions during the process.
