It was called the Civil Rights Movement. This movement was created to end racial segregation and discrimination against black Americans and to be able to have access to the same constitutional rights as white Americans have. There were many people led this movement like Martin Luther King, Jr. and Medgar Evers led civil disobedience campaigns to voice out their grievances and their struggle for equality. Despite the many trials that the movement faced, it did manage to end segregation and discrimination. Today many African American now enjoy many privileges and rights that was denied to them in the past. They can now occupy high government positions, vote and interact with other races and this is due to the efforts of the Civil Rights Movement.
