You are told that having a college education increases a person's earnings by 30% over their lifetime. A non-college graduate earns about $30,000 per year. How much more will you earn with a college education over a 40 year career?

30,000 per year annual income by a non-college educated man or woman
30% of 30,000. is 9,000. more every year for the college educated man or woman.
If a person works 30 years at his or her career making 9,000. more annually then they will have earned 30 times 9,000. or 270,000. more than the non-educated individual.
