Your company is hosting a benefit 5 kilometer race. How long will the race be to the nearest tenth of a mile?

Well, OK. My company never hosted anything, certainly
nothing with any benefit, so this scenario doesn't relate
very well to the real world. But here's the math:

(5 km) x (1 mile / 1.609344 km) = 3.106... mile

Rounded to the nearest tenth of a mile:

3.106... mile ===> 3.1 mile

1km=0.62 miles

so multiply 1km by 5 to get 5km
multiply 0.62 by 5 to get km to miles
0.62 times 5=3.1

answe ris 3.1 miles
