During the lifting phase of weight training, it is recommended that you:

a. exhale air.
b. exhale and inhale air.
c. hold your breath.
d. inhale air.

I believe it is B, because  its not really possible to do only one, or it would be the same as holding your breath after either one. And holding your breath is a big no no because it exhausts your muscles, tires them out a lot quicker, because there is no fresh oxygen being carried to them.
