Well the correct answer would be 40 because at the end i says 8 time 7 so that meAns the anwer is 40

Your breaking the problem down.
8 x (40 + 7)
You notice how in the second part of the equation, the (8 x 7) the 40 is not there?
Your answer will be 8 x (40 + 7) = (8 x 40) + (8 x 7)
