4500(8)=36000 pounds in total
Each car weighs 4500 pounds. There are 8 cars in total.

168/12=14 feet

3 feet in 1 yard
30 feet

30-14=16 feet

Answer: The total weight in tons the cars on the truck= 18 tons.

The length of the room exceed the width by 16 feet.

Explanation:

a) Given: Weight of 1 truck=4500 pounds

Thus, weight of 8 trucks=
8*4500 pounds

=36000\ pounds

We know that 1 ton=2000 pounds

Thus, weight of 8 trucks in tons=
(36000)/(2000)=18\ tons

Hence, the total weight in tons the cars on the truck= 18 tons.

b) Given: Dimensions of the room are as

Length=10 yards and width= 168 inches

We know that 1 yard=3 feet and 1 inch=
(1)/(12)\ foot

Thus, length
=10*3=30\ feet

width=
168*(1)/(12)=14\ feet

The difference between length and width=
length-width=30-14=16\ feet

Hence, the length of the room exceed the width by 16 feet.
