If $15.25 is 12.5% of his money you can use 15.25/x=12.5/100 to solve for how much he had total, so 12.5x/100=15.25, which means 12.5X=1525, or x=1525/12.5, which is 122 meaning the answer is just $122.

so therefor 12.5%=15.25
percent means parts out of 100
12.5%=12.5/100=0.125/1
0.125 of money=15.25
'of' means multiply
0.125 times money=15.25
divide both sides by 0.125
money=122
answe rs $122
