Darius commanded his strongest men to the Greek lands, so he could pursue their lands and properties. The Greeks then asked the Athenians for help, so that they could battle with the Persians. The dissidents, with the help of the Athenians, made a striking assault on the Persians and burned one of the most critical cities in Asia Minor, Sardis. Darius pledged to always remember that the Athenians had supported the Greeks. From then on, he assigned a servant to remind him that in ever meal. He would say, "Master," three times, "remember the Athenians."
