After the French and Indian War, the British increase their troops in the colonies. The reason for this was to ensure that the colonist would be protected should the Indians launch an attack. However, this cost money. To pay for the costs, they impose a series of taxes on the colonists. Such as the Revenue Act of 1764 that imposed tariffs on molasses. This was followed by taxes on other items such as silk, wines and potash. Unfortunately , the colonist reacted with outrage and anger over the taxes imposed on them and later on it led to the American Revolutionary War.
