First we want to find what one unit is equal to:
72 divided by 8 = 9
Then we multiply the single unit of 9 by 3= 27

The ratio of the ranch dressing to casar dressing in the buffet = 8:3
Number of cases ranch dressings in the buffet = 72
Let us assume the common ratio to be = x
Then
8x = 72
x = 72/8
= 9
So
The number of cases of casar dressing in the buffet = 3 * 9
= 27
So there are 27 cases of casar dressings in the buffet. I hope the procedure is clear enough for you to understand.
