Samuel earned $96 this is bc 48 + 48 = 96

monica earned 2×samuel's paycheck
so, if monica earns 48, we set that equal to 2×samuel's paycheck (let Y represent his paycheck)
so, 48=2×Y divide each side by 2
Y=24, so
samuel made $24
