This is true, while there was an increase in travel and trade, the average European had very little change in his or her life. For a serf on a manor somewhere in England, not much had changed during those times.

No, it is false that although the Crusades led to an increase in travel and trade, Western Europe still had little interaction with the new cultures encountered, since in fact interaction increased dramatically due to the trade.
