Harry and Terry are each told to calculate 8−(2+5)8−(2+5). Harry gets the correct answer. Terry ignores the parentheses and calculates 8−2+58−2+5. If Harry's answer is HH and Terry's answer is TT, what is H−TH−T?

Given:
Harry and Terry are to calculate 8−(2+5)8−(2+5)
Harry go the right answer
Terry got 8−2+58−2+5

Find: H-TH-H

Solution
First, you have to get Harry’s answer, H
H = 8−(2+5)8−(2+5)
H = 8−(7)8−(7)
H = 8−56−7
H = -48-7
H = -55

Then get Harry’s answer, T
T = 8−2+58−2+5
T = 6+58-2+5
T = 64-2+5
T = 62+5
T = 67

Find: H-TH-H
-55-(67)(-55)-(-55)
-55-(-3685)-(-55)
3630+55
3685
