240 divided by 6 = 40. She had 40 coins 4 months ago.

Given:
number of coins now = 240
It is 6x the number of coins she had 4 months ago

6x = 240
x = 240/6
x = 40

Sela had 40 coins 4 months ago.

To check:
6x = 240
6*40 = 240
240 = 240
