The correct answer should be that the United States forced its colnial rulers to leave. The declaration of independence was actually made even before the Fall of the Bastille which makes the US the first Republic in the world. It, together with France, inspired many others to get rid of monarchies, France mostly to those original countries while the US inspired other colonies.
